Meet our team leaders

Robert Tan

Robert is one of the founding partners of RMKL group.  He has nearly 40 years of experience in auditing public and private companies.  During this period, Robert served many major local and international clients that operate in various industries, including banking, insurance and financial services, manufacturing, construction and property development, hospitality, and the service industry.

In addition to auditing, Robert’s professional experience also includes leading assignments related to outsourced internal audits and enterprise risk management services, corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, financial due diligence, reporting accountant work for initial public offerings and corporate exercises, and company liquidation.

Robert started his professional career in Deloitte Australia and returned to Malaysia to continue his career in 1974 until he retired as a senior partner with Deloitte KassimChan.  Presently, he is a partner at Robert Mengkwai & Loo PLT, as well as a managing director at Robert & Loo Restructuring Sdn Bhd.

Robert is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA).  He is also a member of Chartered Accountants, Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ), and the Malaysian Institute of Taxation.  Robert was a Council Member of MICPA and the Serving Chairman of the Auditing & Assurance Standards Board established under the auspices of Malaysian Institute of Accountants.  Robert also holds a liquidator license.

Ng Meng Kwai

Another founding partner of RMKL group and a retired senior partner of Deloitte Malaysia, Meng Kwai has over 40 years of public accounting experience with diverse experience in auditing and financial advisory services which include financial due diligence, advisory on foreign direct investment, business valuations, and transaction support services across diverse industries including manufacturing, trading, hotels, banking, finance, construction, telecommunications, and property development.

Beginning his career in 1973 with Deloitte Malaysia, Meng Kwai moved up the ranks until his retirement as senior partner.  During this period, Meng Kwai was the firm’s leader of the financial advisory services (corporate finance, transaction support services, corporate recovery, valuation and business advisory), technical partner and the Reputation and Risk Leader.  As the Reputation and Risk Leader, Meng Kwai was responsible for all aspects of the firm’s reputation and risk management matters, including quality, independence, regulatory, security and ethics.

In the earlier years, Meng Kwai has contributed to the shaping of the Malaysia’s accounting and auditing standards through participation in technical committees and boards of the Malaysian professional accounting bodies.  His contributions include being a former member of the Financial Reporting Foundation (FRF), a former member of the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board (MASB)’s Issue Committee and a member of the former Accounting and Auditing Standards Committee of the Malaysian Institute of Accounts (MIA).

Meng Kwai is a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, United Kingdom (ACCA), a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), a member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Taxation.  Meng Kwai also holds a liquidator license.

Loo Chee Chou

Chee Chou is also a founding partner of RMKL group.  He has 30 years of auditing and assurance experience, including 20 years with Deloitte Malaysia until his retirement as a partner.  He has been involved in the audit of public and private companies, both local and foreign, that operate in telecommunications, banking, manufacturing, property development, trading, retailing, engineering, oil and gas, freight forwarding and other service industries.  Chee Chou also led assignments involving due diligence services, reviews of profit and cash flow forecasts and projections and the preparation of accountants’ reports for initial public offerings.

Chee Chou is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA).

Cheong Thoong Farn

Thoong Farn has more than 30 years of auditing and assurance experience, with nearly 30 years with Deloitte Malaysia until his retirement as a partner.  During this period, Thoong Farn led auditing assignments for both public and private entities that operate in various industries, including banking, manufacturing, plantation, construction and property development, and services.  In the later part of his career with Deloitte Malaysia, Thoong Farn took on the practice support roles as the Firm’s Technical Partner, National Professional Practice Director, and the Reputation and Risk Leader.  In these roles, Thoong Farn was responsible for the Firm’s reputation and risk management matters, engagement quality, independence, regulatory, security and ethics.  He was also involved in the firm’s implementation of audit methodology and enabling technologies, as well as system of quality control.

Over the years, Thoong Farn had also contributed to the development of the accounting and auditing profession by participating in a number of technical committees of the professional body and the accounting standards setter in Malaysia.  This includes being a former member of the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and technical working groups of the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board.

Thoong Farn is a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), United Kingdom (ACCA) and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

Tang Jin Ho

Jin Ho started his accountancy career with Deloitte Malaysia.  He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.  He is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), a member of the Certified Practicing Accountant of Australia (CPA Australia), a member of The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, United Kingdom (CIMA) and ASEAN Chartered Professional Accountant (ASEAN CPA).

With more than twenty years of experience in the industry, he has covered a wide spectrum of industries and business operations including manufacturing, construction, property development, plantation, advertising, food and beverage, event & entertainment, multi-national companies from USA, Japan and Singapore as well as companies listed on Bursa Malaysia.

He is a JPK Trainer accredited by the Department of Skills Development (Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran, JPK) and he is also a HRD Certified Trainer by Human Resource Development (HRD), a government agency under the Ministry of Human Resources Malaysia.
